OH This bean was a “Top Performer” in the Auckland Botanical Gardens Summer Bean Trial, which compared 44 cultivars of beans. A prolific producer, with nice flavour as a green bean. Beautiful flowers and dark purple pods which unfortunately, go green when cooked. The seeds are slightly mottled beige colour and very round and plump. A climbing bean with good drought tolerance, best picked regularly for extended harvest.
Sow in trays in glasshouse in September or direct in the garden when chance of frost has passed. From trays prick out when true leaves appear and transplant into fertile soil at 15-20cm spacing under a trellis for support. For autumn crop repeat sowing in January/February.
