A very easy to grow multiplying onion, traditionally grown in all gardens until the Green Revolution. Plant one and they will multiply into 8-10 onions per bulb. More dependable than classic onions, and a great addition to any keen gardeners collection.
Similar to a shallot with multiplying onion growth habit. Sow May-August. Plant 15-20cm diagonal spacing in aerated, fertile, well drained soil that gets plenty of sunlight. Moisten soil, then apply thick mulch. Water if needed in summer. Harvest Dec-Jan. when leaves start to die back. Store with roots and tops on to cure.
