A heritage elephant variety from the North, not a true garlic, actually it is more closely related to leeks. Great for roasting whole!
Sow in May-August. Plant cloves 15-20cm diagonal spacing pointy tip up in aerated, fertile, well drained soil that gets plenty of sunlight. Make sure soil is moist and then apply thick mulch directly after. Cut flower heads when emerging for larger bulb size, or keep for seed bulbils. Harvest Dec-Jan. when leaves start to die back. Store with roots and tops on to cure.
